DS updates its flagship SUV

The DS 7 Crossback was introduced in 2017 and is now ripe for a planned refresh that will see it drop the redundant ‘Crossback’ suffix. Sales will begin this autumn, but you can already leave a pre-order.

The automaker drew inspiration from the DS Aero Sport Lounge Concept and the DS 4 when it updated the Seven, giving it a larger front grille, redesigned DRLs and LED Matrix headlights. The tailgate and wheels are also new.

Inside, you will not see any chrome anymore, and you can now opt for new Nappa leather/Alcantara combos. The digital dashboard infotainment display have been updated, but stayed the same size as before.

Buyers of the new DS 7 will be able to grab it with a diesel engine rated at 130 PS (128 hp / 96 kW), as well as any of the three gasoline engines worth 130, 215 and 225 PS (128, 212 and 222 hp; 96, 158 and 165 kW, respectively). If you would rather drive a plug-in hybrid, you are in luck because there are three of those on offer, too, rated at 225, 300 and 360 PS (222, 296 and 355 hp; 165, 221 and 265 kW).

All three PHEV variants come equipped with the same traction battery rated at 14.2 kilowatt-hours and 81 km (50.3 miles) of all-electric driving range. The top spec is the fastest with a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint time of 5.6 seconds.
