DS 7 Crossback gets armoring option straight from the factory

French car brand DS has unveiled a special edition of its ‘7’ SUV named Vauban, which offers some degree of ballistic protection in stock form. The availability will be limited, but the specific production numbers aren’t disclosed.

The automaker installs discreet Aramid armor plates under the bodywork to make the DS 7 Vauban resistant to heat and impacts. Ballistic glass is used throughout for the windows. The European armored vehicle rating system categorizes it under VPAM 4 – basic 9mm gunfire protection.

The list of options mentions a siren, a loudspeaker, a fire extinguishing system and other typical armored vehicle options. DS says custom orders will also be processed.

From the technical perspective, the Vauban is an E-Tense 300 flagship spec using a 300-PS (296-hp / 221-kW) hybrid powertrain to drive all four wheels.
