DS to discontinue its 4 and 5 models

DS, an automotive company and part of the PSA Peugeot Citroеn group, has permanently stopped the production of DS 4 and DS 5 cars. According to a representative of the marque, this is a forced decision necessary for the company to successfully integrate several new compact vehicles in its existing model palette.

Indeed, the DS 4 and DS 5 have been suffering from increasingly bad sales lately. Only 11,746 Fours and as few as 5,738 Fives were sold in 2017. To compare: Volkswagen Golf leads the segment with around 170,000 annual single-model sales.

We know for a fact that one of the two discontinued models will be replaced by the DS 3 Crossback EV that will debut at the Paris International Motor Show earlier this year and enter production as soon as another model, the DS 7 E-Tense, reaches the market.

Rumors leaked into the media some time ago that DS might be working on a new flagship with an appearance similar to that of the Citroen Numero 9 Concept. If true, this alleged DS 8 may enter the market as a new rival of the Audi A6 and the BMW 5-Series.
