Electric vehicles continue to smash through popularity anti-records in Europe following the cancellation of state benefits and incentives.
ACEA reports that the fall amounted to a record 43.9% in August this year compared to the same month last year. Germany – the biggest EV market in the Old World right now – experienced a massive 68.8% sales hit.
Overall, automakers managed to find buyers for 92,627 battery-electric cars in the European Union in August 2024, down from 165,204 BEVs the year before. As a result, the BEV market share in Europe shrank from 21 to just 14.4 percent.
It is worth mentioning that the whole automobile market in the EU has shrunk by 18.3% over the same period – to just 643,637 vehicles sold across all categories.
