EV sales slump in Germany

The German authorities decided to scrap subsidies for buying new EVs last year, leading to a sharp decline in their popularity.

28% fewer EVs found new owners in 2024 compared to the preceding year. Only 13.5% of all cars sold in Germany were fully electric last year.

Hybrid sales have risen by 12.7% over the same period, with petrol-electric plug-in hybrids gaining 9.2% over 2023.
