Leopard 8 presents cabin in latest spy shots

When BYD unveiled the Leopard 8 SUV from its FangChengBao lineup in mid-April, it never revealed the cabin. Car spies have now corrected this issue by tracking down a pre-production vehicle on the streets of China.

The premium off-roader is expected to go on sale in late Q3 priced from 500,000 Yuan. The photo reveals a steering wheel with thick spokes, a large head unit and a transmission selector sitting next to two phone charging pads. The a-pillars and the headliner sport expensive-looking trimming materials.

Based on other photos made that day, AutoChina says the SUV is a seven-seater. It’s already official that the Leopard 8 will also get a more luxurious cabin version with two separate seats in the middle row. Having said that, power adjustments, heating and ventilation should be available in all trim variants.

The SUV is sized 5,195 x 1,994 x 1,875 mm with 2,920 mm of wheelbase. Its powertrain incorporates two electric motors with a total of 680 PS (671 hp / 500 kW) and a 2.0-liter engine with 272 PS (268 hp / 200 kW) of its own. Imitated diff locks should help with off-road driving.
