FAW launches new mid-size SUV Senia R9

The Chinese car manufacturer FAW has launched sales of a new mid-sized SUV model named Senia R9. The second crossover in the FAW model palette costs an equivalent of 13,000 USD to buy in its most basic version.

The car advertising says its design was inspired by the indescribable grandeur of starlit sky. To give you a better view of that sky, the vehicle comes equipped with the largest panorama roof in its entire market segment.

On the inside, there is an infotainment system with as many as 56 functions – probably enough to cover everything that can be controlled remotely in the car. In its top specification, the FAW Senia R9 also gets driver drowsiness alert, lane control, hill climb/descend assist, and adaptive lighting.

First vehicles will ship with an invariable 1.2-liter turbo engine capable of 143 hp (107 kW), but a stronger 1.5-liter engine will be made available later. Transmission choices are limited to mechanical and 7-speed DCT.

Haval H6 and Changan CS75 are going to provide the new FAW Senia R9 with most of its competition when it reaches the market. Despite this, the release stands a good chance to be a commercial success: 61,000 copies of its junior model, the R7, has been sold in 2017 alone.

Depending on the trim level, prices range between 13,000 and 19,500 USD.
