YouTuber Backyard Racing builds ingenious and huge racing circuits for Hot Wheels toy cars in his backyard using OEM parts along with his own fabrications. His latest track features water slides and small waterfalls, among other things.
The design uses six water pumps and hundreds of liters of water, as well as plastic pipes serving as tunnels, assorted containers, ropes, magnets, collars and ice cream sticks – in other words, all the Rube Goldberg goodness you can imagine.
According to the author, he received help from his Australian shepherd named Cody, who is, regrettably, barely featured in the video. On the upside, you get to see a giant shark designed to scare the tiny toy car pilots. There in so mention of the length of the track, but its highest point rises more than 10 feet (3.5 meters) above ground.
Building intricate and challenging tracks is a competition of sorts for Hot Wheels fans, who keep coming up with new ways to race their cars. Whole championships are sometimes held among the owners of compact sport car replicas.
