Ferrari has released the first teaser image of its upcoming brand-new supercar equipped with a hybrid powertrain. Visible parts include a massive spoiler and quad brake lights.
According to rumors circulating in the industry, the newcomer might end up with a combo of a 3.9-liter V8 engine and three electric motors. This configuration would be ideal for reducing emissions while maximizing raw power output. The latter is being estimated at 1,000 hp (745 kW) – a healthy 280 hp (210 kW) above the rating of the range-topping 488 Pista. Sprinting from nothing to 100 km/h (62 mph) should not last longer than two seconds.
Ferrari keeps the name of its upcoming super-hybrid secret, only referring to it as the ‘F173’. The official premiere should occur tomorrow, though, so we might as well just wait until then.
The first hybrid car of the Italian marque – the LaFerrari – saw the light in 2013. Powered by a 6.3-liter V12 assisted by an electric motor and rated at 963 hp (718 kW), it only needed three seconds to get to 100 km/h (62 mph) and could ultimately hit 350 km/h (217 mph).
