The Ferrari F2002 that Michael Schumacher drove to his fifth absolute victory in the Formula Once series will be auctioned off at the end of the 2019 F1 season.
The legendary driver piloted the vehicle in several races in 2002, including the award-winning Gran Prix ones in France, Austria, and San Marino. The starting price remains unannounced, but the auction holder says it will redirect a part of the sum to the Keep Fighting Foundation, a charity organization that was founded after Michael Schumacher received severe head trauma during a ski accident and fell into a coma shortly afterwards.
Another vehicle that used to belong to Schumacher – the Ferrari Marlboro F2001 – fetched U.S. $7,504,000 at an auction two years ago.
Aside from the F2002, the Abu Dhabi auction will put up another Italian racecar for sale: a restored 1990 Ferrari F40 bearing the autograph of German racing driver Sebastian Vettel.
