First specs now available for the Ferrari’s Purosangue

According to Ferrari CTO Michael Hugo Leiters, the company’s first off-road-capable vehicle will come based on the same front-wheel drive platform as the recently revealed Roma supercar.

Leiters added that, while the company is still looking for the optimal drivetrain configuration for the upcoming Ferrari Purosangue, it has been already decided that it would be an electrified hybrid.

The Italian luxury carmaker actually plans to launch a whole lineup of RWD and AWD cars based on the Roma architecture, despite its original FWD design. The chassis provides flexible support for six-, eight- and twelve-cylinder engines and their hybrid combos. In all likelihood, the crossover SUV will initially hit the showrooms with a V6 or a V8 in late 2021.

Aside from this, Ferrari is working on a still-unannounced hypercar scheduled for 2022 launch, reportedly prioritizing handling, aerodynamics and weight over sheer performance.
