Okay, perhaps several dozen bucketfuls – but the point stands: Collecting Cars will soon arrange an online auction for this 1971 Ferrari GTB/4 Daytona, which had been torn down to the last screw and never pieced back together.
According to the accompanying description, this particular vehicle was badly damaged in an accident, but had its body completely restored some time later. After disassembling the car completely, its original owner found that he could not quite afford to finish a project as complex as this, so he sold it over to another one. For decades, parts of the sports car have been changing hands, but mysteriously enough, no one proceeded with the final assembly.
The Daytona’s current owner went farther than the rest and restored the entire chassis. All that remains now is to put together the mechanical units and components, paint the exterior, and trim the cabin anew. Quite a task, indeed!
