1 of 3 Ferrari 275 GTB/LM supercars heading to auction in January

An ultra-rare Ferrari 275 GTB/LM Competizione Speciale coachbuilt by Scaglietti in 1965 and believed to be one out of only three such vehicles in existence will go under the hammer early next year. Judging by its chassis number – 06701 – someone paid $26.4 million for it at another auction nine years ago.

The homologation batch was different from the stock 275 model in terms of both appearance and drivetrain. They were styled after their legendary predecessor, the 250 GTO, and wore hand-fabricated aluminum alloy bodywork. The 3.3-liter V12 had six Weber carburetors in its racing implementation and delivered roughly 300 horsepower (225 kilowatts) to the wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox.

The differences don’t end there. The homologation 275 GTB/LM had a different exhaust system, a reshaped tank filler port for faster pit stops, and bucket seats in the cabin.

The listing is light on details. Back in 2014, the car with the same chassis number was auctioned off with a fully documented background including owner identities and even such details as the number of repaints. Back then, the coupe wore a dark grey finish, but it seems to have been reverted to the factory red.

According to the seller, the vehicle has never taken part in a race and has been driven exclusively on public roads.
