We all know that Ferrari is working on a new hypercar, but apparently, it had also been busy elsewhere. A recent spy video reveals what looks just like an open-top version of the Ferrari 296 GTB.
The author of the footage claims that the test driver made an attempt to shake off the pursuer upon noticing that they were being filmed, but to no avail.
The roadster may debut under the name ‘296 GTS’, like the Ferrari 812 did back in its time. There is no reason to expect a different engine, so we expect it to ship with the coupe’s 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged to deliver 663 PS (654 hp / 488 kW) and an electric motor adding its own 167 PS (165 hp / 123 kW). The total output is estimated at 830 PS (819 hp / 610 kW).
Due to its small 7.4-kWh traction battery, the 296 GTB only has around 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) of all-electric range. In hybrid mode, in needs just 2.9 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph).
The launch date remains unannounced, but we would be surprised if the roadster debuted any earlier than 2022.
