Ferrari hybrid test mule looks hobo-rific in latest spy video

Camouflaged prototypes have more than just new design cues to hide: they often go through a number of grueling tests and end up torn up and battered before the engineering team can resolve all the technical issues. This Ferrari seems to be a prime example.

The car appears to be wearing the same wrap as the year before, but torn off in parts, discolored and crumpled. The edges are frayed in places, dirt has accumulated in some corners, and the sheet metal of the bodywork has also seen better days.

As for the identity of the mule, it looks like the upcoming V6-powered Ferrari hybrid. According to the patent information posted a while ago, it will debut in part-electric and all-electric versions later this year.

Hybridization is a major step forward for the conservative Italian car manufacturer, but there are still major issues to solve. Where will the battery pack be mounted? What will the engineers do to keep the weight low? We should be getting some answers soon.
