Topless Ferrari 296 GTS debuts with a V6 under the hood

The first V6-powered Ferrari – the 296 GTB – came out in June 2021. Now, the company has revealed a similar model called the 296 Gran Turismo Spider (GTS), which features a removable hardtop.

Power still comes from the usual three-liter, six-cylinder engine boosted to around 660 PS (651 hp / 485 kW), as well as an electric motor. The cumulative output amounts to 830 PS (819 hp / 610 kW) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission drives the wheels.

The Spider zaps from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and reaches 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.6 seconds. The top speed lies at 330 km/h (205 mph). All-electric range is capped at just 25 km (15.5 miles).

Due to additional structural reinforcements, the topless 296 is 70 kilograms (155 pounds) heavier than its coupe counterpart, tipping the scales at 1,540 kg (3,395 lbs) before liquids.

The 296 GTS will be neither the last nor the biggest Prancing Horse reveal this year: the long-anticipated Purosangue SUV should follow soon.
