Marvel at this rare Ferrari by Koenig

The Koenig Specials F48 you see before you is a tuned Ferrari 348 TS, one out of only two RWD sports cars released by Koenig. The bidding has reached £65,500 with some time remaining on the clock.

The seller calls Willy Koenig’s tuning shop in Munich, Germany “an icon of the 1980s and 90s”, pointing out its distinct style and serious performance upgrades over stock.

The Specials F48 came out to celebrate the legendary Ferrari F40 model. The team didn’t just redesign the 348 TS to look like the Maranello special, but also boosted the engine to make it close to the F40 in terms of power output.

Ferrari produced this example for Great Britain 32 years ago. The owner then sent it to Germany for a round of tuning and received it back in 1994. He said it looked and felt like a new car.

Power for the exotic coupe comes from the stock 3.4-liter V8 upgraded with dual chargers and an intercooler. The original 348 TS made 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW), while the replica currently makes 520 PS (513 hp / 382 kW). Even the original F40 lags a bit behind with 480 PS (473 hp / 353 kW). Other notable modifications include suspension tweaks and carbon-ceramic brakes on the front axle.

The car has around 65,400 km (40,638 miles) on the odometer.
