Ferrari’s McLaren Artura rival hits test track

It has been decades since Ferrari designed a V6-powered sports car, but things will change soon with the advent of a new model that will rival the McLaren Artura in its market segment. Here is what it looks like in disguise.

Note especially the sticker behind the driver’s door warning about high voltage. This must mean that the powertrain is part-electric. The dual tailpipes at the rear are most likely fake: note the rear exhaust hidden behind a grille in the middle of the rear bumper.

The latest Ferrari will draw its power – around 700 PS (690 hp / 515 kW) – from a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 assisted by an electric motor. The latter is expected to contribute around 110 PS (108 hp / 81 kW) of its own. It should also have an all-electric mode and around 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) of battery range.

Rumor has it the same V6 hybrid powertrain will be used in the Purosangue SUV due out in 2022.
