Famous U.S. auto customizer George Barris, now late, bought his Ferrari 308 GTS in 1978. Unsurprisingly, with his great skills and rich modding experience (among other things, he was the one who had designed the Batmobile), he immediately decided to mod the vehicle.
George Barris’ rendition of the Ferrari 308 GTS got broader wheel arches and new front and rear spoilers. While its headlights are no longer of the pop-up variety, it now sports a nice goldish-brown body color with the red-white-and-green Italian flag running across in a narrow band. The chosen color scheme agrees very well with stylish golden-colored BBS RS wheels.
The designer gave some love to the interior of the car as well. Apart from posh beige leather, it now has digital displays, a telephone, a TV set, a car audio system, and even a rear-view camera – all in all, lots of tech-heavy things completely unthinkable of in 1978.
To date, this particular Ferrari 308 GTS has traveled less than 13,000 kilometers (or 8,000 miles) and is still in top condition. The prospective buyer also gets a few unique photos showing the rarity alongside its former owner, and a certificate of authenticity.
The starting price is being kept secret right now.
