Famous movie director’s Ferrari fails to sell

This 51-year-old Ferrari 365 GTS/4 was estimated at $2,800,000 USD thanks to once being owned by Sydney Pollack himself, but the deal was never closed.

The Oscar-winning director was the second owner of the car, buying it when it was three years old and selling two years after that. The roadster went to its next owner in Mexico, but ultimately returned to the United States again. The last time it was restored was 23 years ago, and the car currently has 64,615 kilometers (40,150 miles) under its belt.

Ferrari had only produced 122 such roadsters in 1971-1973 (see video), giving 14 of them a silver exterior finish. The interior was trimmed in luxury black leather.

A 4.4-liter V12 powers the car with 352 PS (347 hp / 259 kW) and 431 Nm (318 lb-ft) of torque. A five-speed manual transmission drives the rear axle. Going from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 5.4 seconds, and the top speed lies at 280 km/h (174 mph).
