Ferrari caught testing a new Spider model

Could this be an open-top modification of the 296 GTB Coupe that debuted a month and a half ago?

You can watch the attached video for a closer look at the coupe and compare it to the photos. With its hard top raised, the convertible resembles it quite a bit, although the rear end is slightly different.

There is no announcement as to the launch date yet, but we expect the 296 GTB Spider to debut either late this year or early next year, becoming Prancing Horse’s fifth topless model on the lineup.

The 296 GTB is the Maranello company’s second most powerful and also the second least expensive plug-in hybrid supercar after the SF90 Stradale flagship. It has only 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) of all-electric range and churns out 830 PS (819 hp / 610 kW) to the wheels thanks to a new turbo-six engine and an electric motor. It also needs 2.9 seconds for the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) stunt, something that the Spider version may be a bit slower at.
