The U.S. Patent Office has shared images it received from Ferrari, detailing the construction of the marque’s first EV. The Drive believes the same platform supports making hybrid supercars, too. The first market launch is expected in three years.
Battery layout is perhaps the most interesting feature of the design: the entire car comes based on a space frame with most of the battery pack tucked in behind the seats. Three more battery units reside under the floor at the front end.
The images make it clear that the main frame outlines rise slightly between the cabin pod and the rear axle – likely to maximize downforce and improve battery cooling.
The hybrid variant of the platform also envisions placing the main battery behind the seats. The internal combustion engine can be placed in the same general area or at the front end.
All technical parameters remain to be revealed.
