Video: Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta gets a superior 100-hour paintjob

Topaz Detailing isn’t your average customization shop. While most others deal with body kits and engine upgrades, the Topaz team aims to perfect every square millimeter of paint and finish on every detail. This Ferrari 458 Speciale Aperta is a good example of the principle.

According to the owner of the company, even the ludicrously expensive Ferrari supercars are affected by an adverse optical phenomenon known as “Orange Peel”. Due to how the standard paint is applied, certain parts of the car body may look off-color and have different light reflection and diffusion properties. The perfect supercar paint coat should be completely even and reflect everything like a mirror if glossy.

Topaz Detailing offers five levels of treatment for luxury vehicles, and the owner of this 458 went for the topmost – fifth – level. Preparing the surfaces, painting and sealing the coat with ceramic took 100 hours, but the result looks so good you can actually see the difference in the video itself, let alone with the naked eye.
