Carmakers often compare their own products against competing ones to stay ahead of the trends, but it is exceptionally rare to catch Ferrari in the act. This weekend, camera-wielding spies did witness the Prancing Horse company try out a Lambo at its Fiorano test track.
The driver behind the steering wheel of the Lamborghini Huracan STO puts it through hell on the track. From time to time, the car jolts and slides, probably because the company wants to see how stable it is and how well it handles.
Coming with tweaked suspension, a sophisticated torque vectoring system and a fixed-ratio steering mechanism, the Huracan STO is a handful to drive and makes an excellent test car for professionals, so it’s no wonder Ferrari would pick it as a candidate.
Power for the STO version comes from a 5.2-liter V10 rated at 640 PS (631 hp / 471 kW) and 565 Nm (417 lb-ft) of torque. The whole momentum goes to the rear wheels. To make the most out of the thrust, the body is 75% made of carbon fiber. This enables the car to zap 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in three seconds flat and max out as high as 310 km/h (192 mph).
Prices for the Lamborghini Huracan STO in the USA begin from $327,838.
