The real challenge in the car restoration industry of today is to modernize the vintage car subtly in such a way that not even a collector would be able to tell it from stock at a first glance. This Ferrari 512 BB is no exception. It came out in 1979 and still appears stock save for the black paintjob and the new V12 under the hood.
Back in its time, the Italian track tool packed a 5.0-liter Boxer V12 engine rated at 360 hp (268 kW). Its current owner Bob Norwood set out for an engine swap in favor of the superior mill of the Ferrari Testarossa. He succeeded in transplanting the engine and even boosting it from 390 hp (291 kW) to some crazy 1,100 hp (820 kW).
Unfortunately, the car turned out barely drivable in this configuration, so Norwood ultimately had to abandon his original plans and settle for the Ferrari 501 F512 M crate engine still good for 440 hp (328 kW) and 500 Nm (370 lb-ft) of torque.
Further highlights of the projects include Öhlins height-adjustable racing suspension, a carbon0fiber air intake system, a titanium exhaust system by Mark Robles, and a climate control unit inside.
