230 rare cars headed to auction

Around 230 vehicles from a ‘discreet’ collection that its owner never showed anyone else will go on sale in the near future.

Palmen, from Netherlands, started off by reselling rare and exotic cars, but later began collecting them, too. The auction holder believes that the first entry added to the collection was a yellow Lancia B20, which Palmen acquired around four decades ago.

Later additions included classics from Italy (Alfa Romeo, Ferrari and Maserati), Germany (BMW and Mercedes-Benz), Great Britain (Aston Martin, Jaguar and Rolls-Royce) and France. The collection also featured vehicles from marques no longer existing on the modern market – Alvis, Imperia, Matra, Monica, Moretti, and Villard.

The exotics were all kept in dry warehouse conditions and serviced by Palmen himself with no restoration attempts made. He started their engines regularly from keeping them from ‘getting stuck’ and did similar things. As a result, the bulk of the collection is in a decent condition, despite the dust.

The seller says Palmen ultimately decided to get rid of his vast garage of cars due to recent health issues and other life circumstances.
