Ferrari 550 finally gets a Targa body, shame it’s not OEM

Italian coachbuilder Touring Superleggera introduced its resplendent Veloce12 coupe based on the Ferrari 550 around two years ago (see video). The conversion alone cost €690,000, meaning you still had to procure your own donor vehicle. It has now announced Veloce Aperta – a Targa modification of the same restomod.

The only teaser pic available so far is pretty dark, so conjecture is all we have at the moment. It looks like the Veloce Aperta sports an all-custom rear end complete with a glass dome above the engine bay. The rest of the bodywork seems to be made from fine hand-molded carbon fiber.

As for the powertrain, it’s already official that the restomod will utilize the 550’s standard 5.5-liter V12 rated at 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) before any mods. A six-speed automatic transmission will carry the momentum to the rear end.

Any dynamic figures will have to wait until closer to the premiere, which is scheduled for June 26th, 2026. Price-wise, we fully expect the Targa version of the Veloce12 to cost more than the original, due to all the structural reinforcement work involved.
