A movie dedicated to the life and deeds of Enzo Ferrari, the legendary founder of the Italian supercar brand, will be hitting the big screen on Christmas. In the meantime, here is its second teaser vid focusing on racing scenes and briefly touching upon the infamous 1957 Mille Miglia accident that claimed the lives of the crew.
It looks like the race is the peak point of the entire movie. Director Michael Munn makes it look like Enzo Ferrari was desperate to escape from his private life troubles and at the same time save the company from going bankrupt. The biopic stars Adam Driver and Penélope Cruz in the main cast.
66 years ago, a race spanning 1,597 kilometers (992 miles) of roads between the cities of Brescia and Rome was held and Ferrari claimed the entire pedestal. Piero Taruffi, played in the movie by Patrick Dempsey, won the gold of the Mille Miglia that year.
That race was also marred by a grave incident with one of the Ferrari racecars: Alfonso de Portago’s car blew a front wheel and went flying into a telegraph pole, killing the crew and injuring three dozen of spectators. It is shown in the trailer, too.
