Ferrari builds a unique SP38 supercar against custom order

The Italy-based luxury car manufacturer Ferrari is known for the loyalty and support it shows towards its customers and fans. Living up to this reputation, the company has built a one-of-a-kind sports vehicle it named the SP38 upon a custom request by a long-standing client.

The posh reveal took place at the Concorso d'Eleganza in Villa d'Este, Italy. The “Elegance Contest” is an annual destination for the most extravagant, exquisite and expensive motor vehicles.

According to a representative of the brand, the car has a Ferrari 488 GTB chassis at base but also draws inspiration from the F40. Indeed, the latter seems to have lent the SP38 its aerodynamic rear wind and hood cover design.

Ferrari has never mentioned any performance figures. The engine compartment of the stock 488 GTB holds a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine capable of 670 hp (500 kW) and even more impressive 760 Nm (560 lb·ft) of torque. The vehicle accelerates 0-100 (0-60 mph) in 3 seconds, which isn’t the best result in its weight category. So the SP38 likely got a light engine upgrade and performance increase.
