Poland-based car interior specialist Carlex Design has unveiled a particularly deluxe take on the already opulent Ferrari 812 GTS, which involves using exotic leather while keeping things environment-friendly.
Specifically, the design team used kudu leather on the seats, door cards and other interior elements. Kudu is a species of antelope common in South Africa that Carlex claims has experienced a population growth so rapid, local authorities had to mandate hunting the species. The hides used in the project would have been discarded as waste if they had not been used.
Elsewhere, the trim scheme employs black buffalo leather with some original stitching on it, laser engravings and metallic décor here and there. The press release emphasizes that wild animal hides tend to come with natural scratches and other imperfections that make every trim unique without affecting quality or wear resistance in any way.
Other than that, the car stays stock both outside and under the bodywork. All pricing is private, as usual.
