Ferrari said it would launch two new vehicles later this year without providing further details. The first is almost guaranteed to be the open-top version of the SF90 Hybrid, and the second might as well be this test vehicle espied not far from the company’s Maranello headquarters.
The black vehicle looks much like the 812 Superfast model, but with a new rear diffuser and a distinctly different engine sound. If this is a special edition of sorts, then we can expect the stock 6.5-liter V12 to get a boost from its 800 hp (596 kW) to approximately 840 hp (620 kW). The car itself should become lighter and accelerate faster than the Superfast, which hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and maxes out at 340 km/h (211 mph).
The new coupe might spawn a roadster version later on, but this remains pure conjecture at this point. Different media claim that the test mule may go into production called either 812 VS (Versione Speciale) or 812 GTO (Gran Turismo Omologato).
Then again, rumors have been circulating that Ferrari actually wanted to launch a more affordable and compact hybrid sports car before any high-performance editions. We won’t know for sure until the Italian carmaker responds.
