The Dino brand was founded fifty years ago. To celebrate the milestone, Ferrari has assembled a picture out of 150 Dino sport cars on the Fiorano Circuit in Italy.
Some of the Ferrari Dino vehicles formed a circle, while the rest formed the words “Dino 50 Anni” (“Dino is 50 now”) in its center. The photo was made from a helicopter.
The Dino brand was founded by Ferrari S.p.A. and initially specialized in low-end sport cars. The company had initially used the name “Ferrari Dino”, but later switched to just “Dino”.
The first model, named Dino 206 GT, came out in 1968. It was built and designed by Leonardo Fioravanti, who then worked in the famous Italian coachbuilder firm Pininfarina S.p.A, and featured a V6 engine with 180 hp (134 kW).
Dino 308 GT4 was the last car issued under that brand name. Its main distinguishing feature was the angular exterior appearance designed by Bertone. The vehicle came equipped with a 2.9-liter, eight-cylinder, 255 hp / 190 kW strong engine with four carburetors. It has been released with the Dino badge until 1976, after which it was accepted into the Ferrari family.
