Video: Hennessey takes its 800-HP Ferrari F12 Berlinetta out for a ride

Sitting down behind the steering wheel of the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta makes you forget the newer 812 Superfast even exists. The stock 6.3-liter V12 engine of the old car still pushes out up to 730 hp (544 kW) and 690 Nm (509 lbft) of torque, enabling it to sprint from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.1 seconds and max out at 340 km/h (212 mph).

But, as you probably know, Hennessey Performance is never satisfied with the standard figures, however impressive those may be. The tuner just finished putting together its first 800-horsepower (600-kilowatt) upgrade for the Berlinetta and took it out on a test drive.

To put things into perspective, the new Ferrari 812 Superfast packs a larger 6.5-liter V12 that outputs 800 hp (596 kW) along with 718 Nm (530 lb.ft) of maximum torque. The supercar needs 2.9 seconds to get to 100 km/h (62 mph), which is a mere 0.2s under the result of the Berlinetta. Its maximum speed is exactly the same.

Hennessey Performance announced a few days ago that it was preparing HPE900 and HPE1000 power kits for the McLaren Senna, likely supposed to improve its engine output to 900 and 1,000 hp (671 and 745 kW), respectively.
