Liberty Walk dares perform surgery on Ferrari F40

Ferrari supercar tuning isn’t just universally perceived as blasphemy among the fans of the marque – it can also prevent you from buying another Ferrari ever again if the company hears about it. The owner of this particular F40 must have wanted a universal outrage, because they surrendered the car to Liberty Walk.

The Japanese tuning company is renowned for its audacious and over-the-top designs often involving permanent body modifications, and this F40 looks like it might have been cut, too. The front end is completely new, the suspension is slammed and the wheel arches look too wide to be uncut. The wheels are custom and the side sills are so long they almost touch the asphalt.

With a multi-million USD sticker, the F40 presents great collector’s value in its stock form. As such, we find it hard to believe that someone would just sacrifice it to a JDM tuner. Perhaps there was an incident or water damage to the car that prompted its owner to restore and modify it? Then again, they would probably have gone to a traditional restoration shop or Ferrari itself instead. Liberty Walk does not mention any reasons, either. What’s your take on it?
