RM Sotheby’s will be holding an auction in Paris, France later this month dedicated, among other things, to this half-size replica of the Ferrari FXX-K Evo racecar. Created by the Italian automaker itself, the scale model lacks a drivetrain but can be used in wind tunnel tests. The estimates lie around €280,000–320,000, which is on par with the prices of some actual Ferraris.
The 1:2 model is 260 cm (8.5 feet) long and 110 cm (3.6 feet) wide. It is partially made of carbon fiber. Ferrari made three such mockups to put them through a series of aerodynamic tests, and this was reportedly the last pre-production example made during the final stages of development.
The FXX-K Evo debuted in 2017 as an evolutionary step forward from the FXX racecar. It featured a revised aerodynamic kit, among other things, and produced 23% more downforce than its predecessor did. Ferrari highlighted that this specific scale model played an important role in achieving such a good result.
The seller says any Ferrari car collector will want this replica in their collection. It can serve as a garage decoration without occupying any floor space, too – you can easily mount it on a wall or at the ceiling.
