Ferrari’s Purosangue SUV spied near its Maranello HQ

Car spotters have made a few low-resolution shots of Prancing Horse’s first crossover SUV in history. Care for a closer look?

A closer inspection reveals that the vehicle is merely a test mule so far, a bare chassis with a Maserati Levante production body on top of it. One can still judge the overall proportions, wheelbase length and ground clearance – although the latter is expected to be adjustable.

In an earlier video attached to this news article, the Purosangue came out for a round of tests wearing a Ferrari GTC 4 Lusso body.

Few other details are known about the SUV. Ferrari CEO Louis C. Camilleri said that it would be a roomy and versatile supercar, but not a Sport Utility Vehicle in the current understanding of the term.

The newcomer utilizes its own unibody architecture and has an engine in the front and an automated transmission near the rear axle. V6, V8 and V12 are all valid candidates for engines, and there will be a hybrid spec based on the powertrain of the SF90 Stradale. The company promises us both RWD and AWD versions.

The alleged Ferrari Purosangue won’t premiere until a couple of years later.
