By retiring the GTC4Lusso AWD in September 2020, Ferrari essentially freed up space in its lineup for its upcoming SUV, the Purosangue. There’s still some time before the reveal, but we can look at the fresh spy shots in the meantime.
The example caught on camera recently hides under a Maserati Levante body, but there is no reason to think it will get the same tech. Ferrari has officially stated that its first SUV in history will use a brand-new platform with innovative suspension and a hybrid powertrain. Other promises included ‘revolutionary accessibility’ and high level of comfort.
Note also the test mule is not exactly stock: it has a bulging hood cover with what might be a V12 underneath, Ferrari exhaust tips, flared fenders, and a rather awkward-looking rear bumper. The ground clearance makes it look more like a tall wagon than a full-fledged off-road vehicle.
Sales in North America are expected to begin in 2023.
