Ferrari’s firstborn SUV photographed at the factory

Someone must have leaked these shots straight from a Ferrari facility, because the car depicted has to be the Italian automaker’s upcoming SUV, the Purosangue.

The off-roader sports an exterior that differentiates it from other Ferraris, with a low-sat radiator grille bearing the Prancing Horse logo and a prominent hood cover hanging over the sides. The front fenders look smaller due to this design decision.

Then there are two-tier headlight units, black wheel arch and side sill inserts typical for crossovers, and smallish wheels that look like placeholders, rather than a production-ready set.

Four-section taillights and quad exhaust tips can be seen in the back along with a large unpainted plastic molding on the rear bumper.

According to Ferrari, its first SUV will enter production in Maranello “later this year”, but deliveries won’t start until 2023, so we are probably talking about the end of the year here. Among other drivetrain options, buyers will be able to get a V12 rated at 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW) or close. A part-electric version should also be available.
