Ferrari has shared a short vid focusing on individual parts of an innovative twelve-cylinder engine it has designed for a ‘brand new vehicle’. There is very little doubt that the vehicle in question is the Purosangue SUV, which has already been announced.
In fact, the footage contains text that refers to the engine as a ‘purebred heart.’ Purosangue is Italian for ‘purebred’, so you can make your own conclusions from here. The automaker also praises the V12 for symbolizing ‘a constant search for new heights’ to conquer and the embodiment of ‘pure emotion’.
The proper premiere of Prancing Horse’s first soft-roader ever remains scheduled for late 2022. The first official teaser pic came out in March, but nothing was known about the engine back then. Most observers expected Ferrari to put one of its three current engines under the hood of the Purosangue, rather than designing a fourth one from scratch.
The most likely candidates included the 830-PS (819-hp / 610-kW) powertrain of the 296 GTB Hybrid and the 6.5-liter V12 of the 812 Competizione.
