Ferrari denies its low-slung four-door utility vehicle called the Purosangue the “SUV” moniker, preferring to style it “FUV” for “Ferrari Utility Vehicle”. Sure, it has more seats and trunk space than your usual Ferrari, but it also delivers far more performance than any SUV does – this seems to be the official positioning. Motorsport Magazine decided to see just how accurate it was.
The video begins with a quick walkaround of the Purosangue, with the host pointing out the flush door handles and the door opening mechanisms. We then switch to a view of the dashboard.
Take out your stopwatch, and you will have no trouble finding out that the vehicle needs 3.4 seconds to snap from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph). It then proceeds to reach 250 km/h (155 mph) in less than 15 seconds – quite an impressive feat, indeed. It is perhaps worth pointing out that the Purosangue can reach a top speed of 309 km/h (192 mph) thanks to its 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12.
We will leave it up to you to choose whether to call it an SUV, an FUV or anything else, though.
