Video: The entire Ferrari flagship evolution in 5 minutes

The YouTube channel Cars Evolution has recently published this small video telling about the six decades of Ferrari flagship vehicles. The footage manages to squeeze the entire history of the Italian luxury marque from 1962 until 2019 in less than five minutes of screen time.

The story kicks off with the Ferrari 250 GTO. The car gained the status of the most expensive vehicle in history when it was auctioned off for 48.4 million USD in 2018. Another copy was later sold for 80 million USD in a direct sale.

The narrative then focuses on the 288 GTO, which came out in 1984 in a series of 272. The model ultimately provided the bases for the F40, the last car launched while company founder, Enzo Ferrari, was still alive.

The 2003 Ferrari Enzo was the first vehicle to gain electronic controls. 10 years later, the company introduced the rear-wheel driven, 963-hp (718-kW) strong LaFerrari laden with electronic driver aids.

Finally, the footage switches attention to the SF90 Stradale. The innovative hybrid supercar and Ferrari’s strongest road-legal vehicle ever comes equipped with a 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 rated at 780 hp (582 kW) and three electric motors adding 220 hp (164 kW) on top of that. The grand total therefore amounts to 1,000 hp, or 745 kW. The car concludes the standard sprint in 2.5 seconds, reaches 200 km/h (124 mph) in 6.7 s and can ultimately hit 340 km/h (211 mph). Its all-electric range is fairly limited at 25 kilometers (15.5 miles).

On a curious note, the cheapest Ferrari in history went under the hammer not long ago. A Ferrari 599 was auctioned off as scrap for a mere $250. Apparently, its former owner abandoned the wreck after a road incident and ran, and the authorities found that the car was never even officially registered, let alone insured. The $250 scrap came bundled with fine liabilities in the amount of $1,400.
