The electrification era has given us hybrid supercars – more powerful than their ICE rivals, yet seriously weighed down by their traction batteries. At the end of the day, are they a net gain or a net loss? The latest video by DragTimes tries to find the answer.
The quarter-mile race is held between an SF90 Stradale and a 488 Pista this time around. The former pumps out more power and torque thanks to its twin-turbocharged V8 and three electric motors. The Pista is less powerful, but also much lighter than its rival.
The superhybrid also needs only 2.5 seconds to reach 2.5 seconds, while the ICE sports car is a bit slower on the uptake with 2.9 seconds. Having said that, both are essentially blisteringly fast. Will their differences matter on the quarter-mile stretch of the runway or not? Watch and see for yourself!
