Check out the all-electric Ferrari Teslarossa (mind the spelling)

Owning a classic supercar isn’t all about enjoyment, as it comes with big responsibility: whether a daily driver or a garage queen, you will be required to perform regular maintenance and repairs. The older the model, the rarer the parts and the higher the expenses. A shop by the name of Electric Classic Cars offers a zero-emission alternative.

Thus was this Ferrari Teslarossa born – note the “Tesla” part if you haven’t already. The sporty Italian coupe from the 1980s ditched its heavy naturally aspirated V12 and is set to receive one or more Tesla motors soon. The power of the new system remains to be measured, but it is almost guaranteed to exceed that of the 390 PS (385 hp / 287 kW) of the original setup.

According to the tuner responsible for the project, the ICE car weighed in above 1,700 kilograms (3,760 pounds) with the engine still inside, which earned it the reputation of a heavyweight among grand tourers back in its era. While the name “Testarossa” was a reference to the lightning-fast Testa Rossa racecars of the mid-20th century, many believed that Ferrari did a poor job justifying it on a V12-powered GT.

Perhaps the deletion of the engine weighing 420 kilos (926 pounds) and the obsolete transmission parts will improve the acceleration dynamics of this example. It is still hard to tell, though, because much will depend on where the battery pack will go and how much of it will be there.

The 15-minute video delves into the conversion in great detail, and we are excited to see the Teslarossa spring to its new, electric life in the coming months.
