Back in the distant 1980s, the Ferrari Testarossa was a paragon of automotive design and performance for many enthusiasts. Nowadays, even family wagons have no trouble outpacing it. The owner of this example wanted it to stay relevant for longer, so he had it tuned.
The 1988-model-year coupe ended up with a pair of turbochargers that drove its 4.9-liter “flat” V12 to 664 PS (655 hp / 488 kW) and 793 Nm (585 lb-ft) of torque. To put things into perspective, the original was only good for 385 PS (380 hp / 283 kW) and 480 Nm (354 lb-ft) of torque.
The owner never bothered to measure any sprint times, but made sure the new power was properly controlled with a new three-plate clutch, Brembo brakes all around, and 18-inch wheels clad in Pirelli P Zero tires. The exterior and the cabin were allowed to stay stock – quite wisely, if you ask us.
The car cropped up on sale the other day with 13,579 kilometers (8,438 miles) on its odometer and a $160,000 USD asking price. It was soon delisted, but we do not know whether anyone bought it and how much they ended up paying for it.
