Black Ferrari Testarossa collection heading to auction on May 20

The Black on Black Collection consists exclusively of Ferrari Testarossa supercars present in various manufacturing years and specifications. The auction will take place in Italy on May 20, 2023. The seller does not reveal any pricing details, but says you will be able to bid for individual cars from the set.

True to the name of the collection, all five examples wear Nero Fer paint on the outside and have black leather in the cabin. They were all manufactured between 1986 and 1996 and, the auction holder claims, demonstrate the progress one of Ferrari’s most iconic vehicles has made over the years in terms of both design and technology.

The oldest example is a Monospecchio ride with only one side mirror at the left side. It is also the most used one with over 124,000 km (77,000 miles) on the odo. The least used one is a Monolado spec, which is one year younger than the Monospecchio and has 7,200 km (4,474 miles) under its belt. It also sports centerlock wheels.

The two most recent rides in the set have no formal ties to the Testarossa lineup. Both the F512 TR and the F512 M came out ater the Testarossa’s discontinuation in 1991, but resemble it greatly on the outside. The F512 M in particular enjoyed a small production run of 501 units, while the main Testarossa series churned out over 7,000 examples. The TR on sale is a model year 1992 example, and the M left the factory in 1996.

The original Ferrari Testarossa (see video) and all of its modifications came equipped with a 4.9-liter V12 rated between 390 and 441 metric horsepower depending on the year of manufacture and specification.
