Single-make Fiat tuner Abarth has launched the 2020 version of its 595 Pista, which is essentially a beefed-up Fiat 500. The car gained more performance, new body colors and an up-to-date infotainment system.
The standard 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine receives a boost to 165 hp (123 kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) courtesy of a Garret turbocharger. While a pleasant improvement over the stock values, this is admittedly still 15 hp (11 kW) below the 180 hp (134 kW) of the 2019 Abarth 595 esseesse, which debuted at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.
The tuner also introduces some suspension upgrades, notably including FSD shock absorbers on the rear axles. The sport-spec brakes are also a welcome addition, given that the new 595 Pista runs as fast as 218 km/h (135 mph).
The driver now benefits from an enhanced semi-automatic transmission with a paddle shifter, as well as a Sport button that can be used to boost the torque and throttle response for a brief period.
The Adrenaline body kit is still available for the model, and Abarth will paint it to match the car body if you would prefer that. Speaking of which, there is a handful of new color schemes available now.
Interior improvements include Sabelt 70 bucket seats, an Audi RS-like squared-off steering wheel, and an advanced entertainment system that now displays telemetry and other useful runtime information.
