Check out a Fiat 500 amphibious car

Italian yacht builder Lazzarini Design, which you may know for its sometimes-bizarre concepts, has founded a sub-brand named Floating Motors. It will handle the transformation of classic cars into amphibious vehicles: here is the first example.

The boat is called La Dolce and uses Fiat 500 underpinnings to sail at speeds up to 64 km/h (40 mph). It is 3.5 meters (11.5 feet) long and weighs 550 kg (1,212 lbs). The catamaran-like cabin can accommodate four passengers including two on separate front seats and two on a rear bench.

The first version to ship will be fitted with a popular Mercury MerCruiser boat engine with around 1 liter of displacement and 70 hotsepower (52 kilowatts). This Floating Motors La Dolce will start from an equivalent of $30,000 USD.

The second modification will make do with an electric motor by Torqueedo. It has 10 horsepower (7.5 kW) less and maxes out at 47 km/h (29 mph), but costs more at $50,000 and above due to an all-electric system. Building one takes at least eight months, and orders require a deposit of $5,000.
