Fiat has posted a video providing a detailed look at its upcoming still-unnamed crossover apparently called the 600 (note the badge on the radiator grille). By the look of it, the model is based on the same platform and engines as the Jeep Avenger and will be revealed on July 4, the 65th anniversary of the iconic Fiat 500.
Judging by the video, the car has a retro feeling to it. In incorporates classic Fiat 500 design cues modified to look more up-to-date. The interior seats five passengers and offers a big infotainment display along with a compact gauge cluster and a tiny HVAC control panel – also a touchscreen, by the look of it.
The body outlines resemble those of the Fiat 500 more than the Avenger, though. It looks like the Italian automaker came up with its own styling for the car, only taking the tech from the Avenger.
Like its U.S. twin, the crossover SUV could go on sale with electrified and ICE versions to choose from, although it remains to be confirmed. A ‘600e’ model could get the Avenger’s electric motor rated at 156 PS (154 hp / 115 kW), while its petrol counterpart may end up with a 1.2-liter turbo and 100 PS (99 hp / 74 kW). All-wheel drive is not on our list of expectations.
