Fiat 500 hybrid confirmed

Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares has confirmed the recent rumors that the next Fiat 500 generation would include a hybrid variant, and revealed the launch date.

The current generation of the Italian hatchback has been designed from the ground up as a battery-electric car with no internal combustion engine. It has been around since February 2020. This is the first time Stellantis decides to backpedal on its decision to make a car all-electric. The original design of the Fiat 500 EV doesn’t even provide any room for an internal combustion engine, so some re-engineering will certainly be required before it reaches the assembly plant.

The production is scheduled to begin at the company’s EV factory in Turin, Italy in the first quarter of 2026.
