The media in Italy have caught rumors regarding the upcoming Fiat 500 Ibrida. Released as an all-electric city hatchback in 2020 (see video), it will be getting a hybrid version this year.
According to these so far unofficial reports, the part-electric model 500 will borrow the powertrain from the discontinued old generation. This implies a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder, naturally aspirated Firefly engine assisted by a modest 12V starter-generator. Manual will be the only transmission available, these reports claim.
The production start is scheduled for late fall 2025.
